10 most influential design bloggers 2008

I don’t usually care much for frivolous blog award shows and blog polls but this one, first spotted on good ol Josh Spear, caught my eye for a few reasons:

ONE: Josh Spear, well respected by the big boys like Rob Walker of New York Times and Tony Allen-Mills of Times Online, and featured numerous times on the likes of PSFK, ADWEEK and Time Magazine, considers this award show “an honor just to be nominated”. I trust him and his crew. I know he’s too big a name to promote anything just for the sake of attention (which brings me back to why I don’t care much for frivolous blog award shows).

TWO: DOT SG. Oh gosh, what a nice surprise. Home Rejuvenation, responsible for organising this poll, is a dot sg. Sue me for being proud, but it’s not every day Singapore shows decent street cred in the Social Media realm. I mean, we’re the ones who came up with some blogging competition where we actually have to plaster a ugly brag badge on our blogs just to qualify, aren’t we?

LELONG LELONG! BLOG FOR SALE! SOUL FOR FREE!

THREE: International design purveyor, Wallpaper*, is backing this poll up, with 3 lucky voters (selected randomly) to be rewarded each with a free 1-year subscription to the print magazine. And no, you don’t need to place their logo on your blog at all. Personally, I don’t think I’d mind that. It’s Wallpaper*, sweetheart.

I’m suprised, and disappointed that homeboy Design Sojourn is not nominated. Hmm. Why not, people? Anyway, voting starts NOW til 15 October 2008. Go vote now.

    Thanks so much for the vote of confidence. I’m surprised, but it seems they focus on interiors, and architecture. Then its pretty dumb to call it “Design” bloggers. I should organize my own! LOL.
