slinging it

The last time I’ve caught a basketball game, Charles Barkley was fit and Jason Kidd was a swinging single. Yes, it was that long ago. Watching Kobe shoot a couple of hoops didn’t quite count as a game as much as I’ve enjoyed it. Needless to say, watching Singapore Slingers battle out against Philippines Patriots took me by surprise.

My godsister Irene invited us to join over the weekend with her Fly people, including Allan Wu, Wong Lilin, Bobby TonelliJimmy T, Elizabeth Tan, and unofficial photographer at large, Joanne Peh. Good seeing the evil devil Gillian (she’s the mastermind behind Numbnuts) and husband too. Ok, I admit – being in the VIP booth was fuckawesome. The view was panoramic. And to have white wine served whilst watching basketball? I’m in heaven. Thanks sis.

As inappropriate as it sounds, it felt like pulling a drag of crystal meth for the first time. The adrenaline rush was priceless. Our boys won and damn right I was proud. So this is how patriotism feels like, eh?

I can’t wait for the next home game on 1st November against Satra Muda Britama. No wait, I’m more interested in the match against KL Dragons on 22 November instead actually. Ohhhhh. Singapore vs Malaysia. This will be good.
