I was particularly proud of being interviewed by Lian He Zao Bao, alongside with both Claudia and Howie, because for the first time ever, I could present an article my Chinese-speaking parents could read and hence beam with pride.
Or so I thought.
Mum ended up using the article as poo paper for my dog whilst Dad took the extra copy I bought into the toilet for company in his usual evening release. First doggy poo, then human poo. Trust Chinese parents to keep you grounded.

parents are your best cheerleaders…
and egokillers.
Haha, I get what you mean. Chinese parents have a way of downplaying their children’s achievements, well, at least in front of them. :i
