when wallets eat words

Oh, what a splendid idea that warms my belly up faster than a single malt. Celebrating the work and passion of artists and students alike, Poketo teamed up with McSweeney’s 826LA to create a lovely series of wallets.

In their When Wallets Eat Words workshop, little T.S. Elliots and Virginia Woolfs penned their short tales born from their imagination, in their own scrawl, for the inside of Poketo‘s wallets. These stories were then interpretated into illustrations by Poketo artists.

The Poketo artists include Tim Biskup, Esther Pearl Watson, Mark Todd, Martha Rich, John Pham, Rama Hughes, Christine Castro, Leah Chun, Chris Bettig, and Keith Knueven.

826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills.

Purchase a Poketo x 826LA wallet today, and help support current and future 826LA programmes. Dude, it’s just 20 bucks. I can’t think of a better way than to spend my money. Sorry, Paul Smith, but I think I’d give you a pass this month.
