uniqlo fashion show: from tokyo to singaporeBy Pat Law • Dec 6th, 2009 • Category: The Fashionista
When a fashion label decides to invest the time and money into a state-of-the-art fashion show choreographed by world renowned creative icons from Japan, Yoshio Wakatsuki and Tetsuro Nagase, you know they mean business. No expense was spared in UNIQLO’s fashion show on 2nd December 2009, at the exquisite Ritz-Carlton. Leading fashion icons of the region were spotted at the event – Clarence Lee, Jeremy Seow, Trey Wong, Venetia Stravens, Wykidd Song, and the divine ohmygodwashereallythere Bagaholic Boy too. Notably, both the Deputy Ambassador of Japan and COO, UNIQLO CO., LTD, Mr Hiroyuki Yamamoto and Mr Naoki Otoma, flew into town specially for the fashion show.
Like I said, they mean business. And I’m glad. How else are we to grow as a fashion hub if we do not have reputable brands putting money where the mouth is? I appreciate UNIQLO for walking the talk.
Post fashion show, we were ushered off to UNIQLO’s 3rd store in Singapore, at 313@Somerset. At a whopping 17,000 square feet, the new store is the largest in Southeast Asia to date. In addition to the family of threads known of UNIQLO, this store has been knighted with the exclusive priviledge to sell the much anticipated +J collection by celebrated German designer Jil Sander. The +J collection will feature a mix of outerwear, bottoms, shirts, cut & sewn, knitwear and others priced between SGD29.90 to SGD229.90. Sweet. Jil Sander isn’t Giodarno if you know what I’m saying.
