Tetsuya Ishida saw himself trapped in this urban utopia world we lived in, and allowed his paintings to describe how he felt. Born in June 1973 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Tetsuya Ishida stopped painting when he died in 2005 after being hit by a train.

Your theme has changed.
Hemingway has a certain something, don’t you think, which none of the others do, something spare, stark, but it isn’t at all easy on the eyes. The antisocialist has been getting complaints about that. Interestingly (to me), you were the only other person I saw who had it. In any case, it’s very nice what you’ve done with the place.
I’m mainly writing to tell you how phenomenal these paintings are — not that I need to, not that you don’t already know. Honestly, though, I’ve been looking and re-looking at them for a long time now, and from the standpoint of style they just blow my mind.
