mandatory give way by LTA

Wouldn’t it be funny if we have the Speak Good English Movement banner right next to this one by Land Transport Authority?

  1. Have to say that this is OK Lah. SGians have an inferiority complex and are overly conscious about their English (or Singlish). While I stayed in Oz there were road signs such as "left lane cannot turn left". I am sure both the SG and OZ roadsigns follow the path of human logic closer than their grammatically correct counterparts. They can thus convey their intended message to the fast-driving motorists far quicker than the latter.

Also, if you watch the movie "Pearl Harbor" you hear the captain said to the black seaman who won the inter-ship boxing competition "Ship is proud of you". So don't think the westerners always speak perfect English.

  2. "So don't think the westerners always speak perfect English. "

Hmm. In which part of my blog post did I ever implied "westeners always speak perfect English"?

Say something.
