the walking masterpieceBy Pat Law • May 26th, 2010 • Category: The Artist
People, save for drugged-up installation artists, tend to think that a piece of Art is made of paper. Why should it be? Why can’t anything be the canvas for Art? Why can’t the canvas be wood, skin, or perhaps even cotton? Why can’t the frame be of one’s body? I believe the best form of Art is around us. I agree that some artists may get too carried away with bullshitting (god damn those art students and their 500-word creative rationale for 2 lazy strokes), but the truth is, Art is what we want to see.
And these two tees from Draw Ltd, by artists Bryon Gray and Ricardo Sousa, are Art to me.
1 | LUCIA (MENS) | BRYON GRAY | USD24.00 | BUY IT HERE
Lucia and Carl had their baby. You can imagine the pick of that litter. It was the kind of kid that if you played with it too much after a feeding, you threw up.
About the Artist:
Lucia is Byron’s drawing of anxiety. He’s terrified of hitting a deer when driving due to a story from his 9th grade biology teacher about a friend that hit a deer. The deer went through the windshield and ended up kicking the driver to death. Anxiety is usually not about something terribly evil, just something standing in your way, and staring at you.
2 | INNERVISION (MENS) | RICARDO SOUSA | USD24.00 | BUY IT HERE
Mom, Dwayne’s got 20/20 vision!
About the Artist:
Ricardo Sousa is a 17 year old student from Lisbon, Portugal. You’d never guess it by his drawing abilities though, would you? Yeah, we didn’t either. That’s why we thought it was really important to show you guys what this kid can do. Ricardo’s influences come from all over and they range from urban art to movies and music. He’s also a drummer too by the way.
