Of today’s supposed new greats of the Art world, I see more similarities than I do with individualities. Odd how everyone wants to be unique, and yet appear like Xerox copies of each other. Surely it is acceptable, for artists to apply similar techniques or specialise in a similar cultural movement. Even so, can Individuality not be preserved?

Take Surrealism for example. Non sequitur and completely unexpected, Surrealist artists like Salvador Dali and Max Ernst painted in the same manner in the omnipotence of dream and yet so distinctively idiosyncratic to their strokes.

With Individuality being a rarity, it is refreshing to discover a new artist who holds up on her own, with strokes she can clearly command as her own. Blankettes, meet Jinyoung Shin, a New York based artist whose art is bound to penetrate your skin into your bones.
