Deforestation awareness

Definition of Chinese characters from left to right: Forest, Woods, Tree… Death

Wordplay with the Chinese language isn’t easy. Not when there’s more than 5,000 Chinese characters out there. This is beyond advertising. This is a work of art from Shunya (Beijing, China). Absolutely brilliant.

  1. That’s great! I love how it works across languages- I could absolutely understand the point and I don’t know any Chinese whatsoever.

  2. You’re certainly right about the fact that it’s a work of art, and I particularly like the shadow that the cross casts down. And yet I’m suspicious of its message. Please see my latest post for a slightly different take on the state of our world’s woodlands. Incidentally, though you don’t know me, nor I you, I’d like to compliment you on your incredibly artistic eye, which is what drew me to your sight to begin with, as well as the quality of your writing. Offhand, I can’t recall anyone who portrays feet so fantastically.

  3. Antisocialist, I enjoyed reading your post on Freedom and Environmentalism. Makes one think deeper. Thank you for your kind words on my art. Appreciate it.

  4. You’re welcome. I meant all that I said. My latest post might be of some interest to you. It’s not nearly as long as the one before, nor nearly as polemical.

Say something.
