true IT tales

By Pat Law™ • Apr 11th, 2009 • Category: The Advertising Slut

Let’s face it – we don’t care much about the dorky IT guy in our office. We don’t quite give a damn about the challenges they face. All we really care about is that the Internet speed is fast enough to download that latest Wolverine movie off Rapidshare, and that our computers don’t hang just when we’re about to save our 90-slide PowerPoint presentation.

The IT guy’s a bit like Superman really. When all’s nice and dandy, he’s the Clarke Kent we don’t care much for. When our computers crash and we need that proposal oh so urgently, he automatically turns into the Superman we desperately need. Aren’t we a ungrateful bunch? Tsk.

Hitachi Data Systems Australia
has m0st recently launched a website designed to encourage IT managers to share their IT horror stories. The best horror story picked will be hand drawn in comic fashion and signed by the amazing award winning artist Katie Houghton-Ward herself. So now I know what challenges my poor IT guys face.

Its hardly easy marketing to IT managers in the SMB sector. I think Hitachi Data Systems Australia did a badass job. Kudos to the digital agency behind this campaign – Bullseye Australia.

  1. Hi Pat, Thanks for the feedback on the program – http://www.trueittales.com. We are glad you like it. It was based on a simple piece of insight that every IT Manager has experienced an IT Horror Story. It can be quite tough to get cut through in what is traditionally seen as a very conservative product category. Cheers, Tim – Hitachi
