hp mini by studio tord boontje

I have been looking for a netbook for the longest time because, let’s face it, as much as I’m a Mac user and loyal fan, the Macbook Air is kinda crap. While I appreciate the form factor of my Macbook Air, its performance has been less than satisfying. It’s a tad like dating the hottest guy in town, only to realise when you’re back in his place that he has a 2-inch dick.

Yes, my male readers, like it or not, size matters. And for my female readers who disagree with me, well I’m glad you’re easily satisfied.

I’ve resisted getting a netbook for a while now because firstly, Windows Vista is a joke and Windows XP has an user inferace so dated, I feel compelled to be clad with NFL-worthy shoulder pads whilst working on it. All seems well and harmless for my wallet until last night, when I attended the HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje event at Bar 84, Gallery Hotel, organised by the good people from HP Singapore and Waggener Edstrom. Tord Boontje was presented to share his thought process of his design for the HP Mini. Yes, THE Tord Boontje.

HP’s partnership with world-renowned Dutch industrial designer, Tord Boontje, follows the successful collaboration with fashionista, Vivienne Tam, and is the next step in HP’s strategy to align with leading designers who have a unique point of view on design and technology. The HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje, powered by Intel® Atom™ Processor, breaks new ground with the industry’s first three-dimensional (3D) PC surface technology – HP Imprint 3D. This technology brings a unique depth and effect to Boontje’s pattern of flora and endangered animals that unravels onto the palm rest and touchpad of the notebook. Our boys from Tech65 has done a pretty comprehensive review of the product. Check it out.

Running on Windows 7, I’m afraid to say this to my fellow Mac people, but I’m in love with this gorgeous baby. Now to go sell my Macbook Air off on eBay.

To obtain this baby in Singapore, check out the deal with Starhub today.
