and fly turns 10

The year was 1999. Armed with no more than a fax machine, two staff, and a not-too-impressive sum of two thousand grand, and a passionate patriotism towards local talent, award-winning host and comedienne Irene Ang founded Fly Entertainment, Singapore’s pioneer in artiste management.
10 years on, not only did Fly maintained its role as the leading artiste management company in Singapore, the non-state owned company has also established a name for itself on foreign soil, with an impressive portfolio of local and regional stars and artistes under its nurturing wing.
It is no secret that I’m a staunch supporter of non-state owned entities of different tribes of passion. It is not to say that I hate my government, but let’s face it, when one’s backed up by the Big Brother, he or she tends to be an arrogant son of a bitch who thinks the whole world evolves around him or her. I’ve met some nice ones, don’t get me wrong… but I’ve also met pricks that run their businesses not caring for anyone but their own interests. Have you met any media company who has the cheek to tell you that they deserve a stake in your company without having to fork out a single cent, because they are that-asshole-of-a-media-giant-that-currently-monopolies-the-market? Many of you out of the media industry may not know this, but yes, shameless atrocities like these occur.
I am truly proud of Fly for making it this far, for being the leading purveyor in artiste management, not because they monopolize the market by default, but purely because of their ingenuity, diligence, gung-ho-ness and above all, a higher purpose to serve its people. Bloody hell, someone give them a Patriotism award already.
To commemorate its 10th anniversary, Fly has launched THE FLY10 BOOK that details their journey thus far, from the days of a fax machine, to that of world-class entertainment consultancy specialising in casting, media production, events management and artiste management.
