why did you do it?

Needless to say, resigning from Ogilvy was the toughest decision I’ve ever had to make. So why did I do it?
The narcissistic me wanted to immortalize my youth upon a canvas in the same manner to which Egon Schiele has done for himself. Recognising that I can’t draw to my own standards, I sought the help of one of Singapore’s best illustrators, MrB.
The sum of me is the result of my experiences, both good and bad. blankanvas is a lifelong experience fueled by no other than your interest. I will not lie – I blog because I know you’re reading. After all, there is no need for even a whisper, if there is no one listening. blankanvas turns three this month, and I have you to thank.
In spite of everything that has unfortunately happened in my life of late, in spite of the fact that I’m this close to collapsing from sheer exhaustion physically, mentally and emotionally… the show must go on. blankanvas is celebrating her third anniversary this Wednesday at OverEasy, and I can’t wait to meet my fellow bloggers of this little red dot we call home.
I’ve never quite created a To Do list from a macro perspective, perhaps because of my incredibly short attention span but hey, there’s always a first time. Here’s the 10 things I’d like to do before I die. Like all the To Do lists I have, I intend to keep to it.
I grace the Features section of Her World this month, in not one, but 5 crisp, glossy pages. Former occupants of the Features section include acclaimed artistic director Loretta Chen, Dana Lam, the President of Singapore’s leading women’s rights advocacy group, AWARE, the reluctant beach warmer of the same group and title, Josie Lau, and seasoned Public Relations maverick and CEO of Communications DNA, Monica Alsagoff.
I was interviewed by IDA for The Business Times on how SMEs can leverage on social media to address business challenges, alongside with one of the industry’s finest minds, Ben Koe of JamiQ. Incidentally, Ben was interviewed by my felllow Digital Influence colleague, Brian Giesen, as well on Asia Digital Map. Have a read.
Sneak peak on blankanvas’ latest collaboration with one of Singapore’s finest illustrators, Sheryo. Pillows and possibly keychains will be made available in due time. Any takers?
Leon, of Shitoujii, who previously inked blankanvas on my skin, is in town from now til 8 July 2009. The little girl with a tie on my back was feeling a little lonely and I had Leon complete the family earlier this morning, with both my wife and my son Rebel.
A little overdue to be honest, but time has been an increasingly rare luxury to date. My landing page has been stripped to its bare minimum, without any unnecessary visual fluff one might find in a typical self-proclaimed social media expert’s website.
